Welcome September   Leave a comment

and the rains came

and the rains came

September has come bringing serious rain. We were promised by the meteorologists a warm September but warm in nowhere in sight at this point. The ‘conker’ trees are turning golden already and all the rain has blighted our one vegetable crop of cherry tomatoes. Are we downcast, no! I am very hopeful that we will have warm weather yet and hopefully nice weather on our holiday in Latvia starting on the 15th to the 30th. Or will it be a reality check? LOL

An interesting concept, hope. When I focus on the circumstances in my life, at various times, I can be hopeless, or at the least discouraged. Yet scripture tells us hope does not dissappoint us. Hope like faith must be fixed upon a particular object so as not to disappoint. We hear, in the world, many cries to have hope or have faith. Remember that ol’ hippy saying, “Keep the faith, baby.” Then why in this world are so many seemingly hopeless or faithless? What is missing? Here is an answer from God’s word the One who births hope and faith. “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord, Jesus Christ., through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance, perseverancce, character;and character hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” Romans 5:1-5 NIV

Our object or focus for our faith and hope is God through our Lord, Jesus Christ. Circumstances come and go like shifting sands but Jesus our Rock and Redeemer, remains the same yesterday, today and forever. As He is our focus we gain His perspective on our circumstances, and “The things of earth fade gently away.” Does it mean living without reality NO! But it does mean living in God’s reality whose thoughts are not our natural thoughts and He sees with an eternal perspective.

I know it is a ‘preach.’ I make no apologies but choose to hopefully, bless through the reflection.
